The first thing we recommend doesn't come in a box
When the time changes or we return to a more demanding routine, it is normal for it to take a few days to readjust your sleep. Before resorting to a supplement, in the pharmacy we usually check four things: schedule, light, caffeine, and screens.

Try to wake up at a similar time every day, seek natural light in the morning, and avoid taking naps that are too long. If you have trouble sleeping, have your last caffeine intake earlier and reduce stimuli during the last hour of the day. It seems basic, but a good routine has more impact than constantly changing products every night.
Melatonin: when it might make sense
Melatonin is involved in regulating the sleep-wake cycle. It can be useful in specific situations related to scheduling, but it is not a sedative and should not be used as an automatic solution for any insomnia.
In the new Pasteur store, there are different presentations and dosages of melatonin, such as LAC Melatonin and options from Natrol. Precisely because there are different dosages and formats, our recommendation is not to just choose "the strongest one." The right product depends on the problem, your age, other treatments, and how long you have been sleeping poorly.
If you are taking medication, are pregnant, or have a chronic illness, ask us first. And if the insomnia lasts for weeks, significantly affects you during the day, or is accompanied by intense anxiety, snoring with breathing pauses, or excessive sleepiness, it is advisable to look into it.
The mistake of looking at the clock
Sleeping becomes more difficult when we turn it into an exam. Checking the time every twenty minutes, calculating how many hours are left, and thinking “I'll feel terrible tomorrow” increases alertness. If you have been awake for a while and are completely alert, it may be better to get up, do something quiet in low light, and go back to bed when you feel sleepy.

We also recommend reserving the bed for sleeping whenever possible. Working, answering emails, or watching videos for an hour in bed causes the brain to stop associating it solely with rest.
A simple Pasteur routine
- In the morning: light and movement.
- During the day: regular exercise and sensible caffeine intake.
- At night: a reasonable dinner, less screen time, and an hour of winding down.
If you still need occasional support, that’s when we assess an appropriate supplement. Write to us
There is no need to build a ten-step ritual. A routine you can repeat is worth more than a perfect routine that you abandon after three days.
If you are deciding between several options for sleep
Do not choose solely based on milligrams or the promises on the package.
At Farmàcia Pasteur, we can review with you what is happening, what you are already taking, and which option fits best. Sometimes it will be melatonin; other times the best advice will be to change your routine or consult a doctor.

Frequently asked questions
Does more melatonin mean better sleep?
Not necessarily. The highest dose is not automatically the best one.
Can I take it every night?
It depends on the product, the dosage, and your situation. If you need to use it consistently, consult us.
When should I talk to my doctor?
If the problem persists, if there is significant daytime sleepiness, snoring with pauses, marked anxiety, or if the insomnia appeared along with other symptoms.
